Safe Space Allies

Safespace image The Safe Space network is made up of University faculty, staff, and students who are committed to being allies of the LGBT community. All members complete a two-hour training that consists of information about the LGBT population and how to be an ally. At the end of the training, participants are given a distinctive rainbow-colored sticker that reads, “This symbol identifies someone who is sensitive and supportive to lesbian, gay, bi, and trans people, as well as those questioning their sexual orientation." These stickers can be seen all around Grounds to visibly designate safe spaces.

To schedule a Safe Space training for your group or department, contact the Resource Center Coordinator at esw4f@virginia.edu

What follows is a list of faculty and staff at the School of Nursing who asked to be listed as allies of Safe Space, a network of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members of our community.

Names listed with a * indicate those who have attended a training session offered by the University of Virginia’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center.

Please see the LGBT Resource Center Website at http://www.virginia.edu/deanofstudents/lgbt/index.htm for more information about the Safe Space Program.
