Make a Gift for Professors Who Care, Scholars Who Lead

Helping to guide nursing students through their studies and on to their important work as caregivers requires compassion and talent. Helping to lead our nation toward improved health care for all Americans requires inspired scholarship and advocacy. Recruiting and retaining the best nurse educators to fill these roles requires substantial private investment.

Building our chaired, endowed professorships to keep pace with the academic market is a crucial component of our vision at the U.Va. School of Nursing. Expert nurse educators in their respective fields, recruited to or retained by the University of Virginia through the benefits of a chaired professorship, are paramount resources. They ensure students’ education is current regarding all areas of patient care, and that our research and outreach efforts target the most critical health care challenges in an informed and focused manner.

Professorships attract the best nurse educators to Virginia, keep them here, and supplement state-provided salaries to a nationally competitive level. The presence of nurse experts will also attract junior faculty and outstanding graduate students interested in setting a national standard of excellence. In other words, professorships are the living, breathing cornerstone of a foundation of accomplishment.

The School of Nursing needs alumni and friends to help grow its stock of teaching and research excellence by investing in existing professorships, at levels from $100,000 to $500,000.
