International Nursing Code of Ethics

In the full knowledge of the obligation I am undertaking, I promise to care for the sick with all the skill and understanding I possess, without regard to race, creed, politics, or social status, sparing no effort to conserve life, to alleviate suffering, and to promote health.

I will, at all times, respect the dignity and religious beliefs of the patients under my care, holding in confidence all personal information entrusted to me and refraining from any action which might endanger life and health.

I will endeavor to keep my professional knowledge and skills at the highest level and to give support and cooperation to all members of the health care team.  I will do my utmost to honor the International Code of Ethics applied to nursing and to uphold the integrity of the nurse.

Please join us in congratulating the 257 graduates of the School of Nursing's Class of 2026! The May 17 Final Exercises, held on the North steps of the Rotunda, under brilliant, sunny skies, included:

  • 117 BSN graduates

  • 46 RN to BSN graduates

  • 42 Clinical Nurse Leader graduates

  • 27 MSN graduates

  • 16 DNP graduates

  • 6 post-professional certificate graduates

  • 3 PhD graduates

Third-year nursing students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or better may elect to take on a Distinguished Majors project during their final year of nursing school. It requires the successful completion of a paper that presents the student's own analysis of a particular problem and an argument based on serious research that is directed by a Nursing faculty member. The final project results in a manuscript ready to be submitted for publication in a professional journal.

BSN students who complete Distinguished Majors Projects - work that is over and above what is required to graduate and outside the traditional BSN curriculum - spend the final year of their nursing program investigating a topic of their choice under the guidance of a faculty mentor. The following students, some of whom will publish their findings in academic journals, proposed, tested, and presented their findings to the School community in April 2026, and graduate as our 2026 Distinguished Majors:
