According to the latest U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools Guide for 2026, UVA's MSN and DNP programs are respectively ranked in the top 3% and 10% nationally.

Specifically, UVA is home to the nation's:

  • No. 9 public MSN
    (No. 18 overall out of 147 ranked programs)
  • No. 27 public DNP
    (No. 41 out of 154 ranked programs)

UVA's MSN is ranked among the nation's very best

The MSN program is ranked No. 1 in the state of Virginia, and the national ranking is up two spots year-over-year. The DNP program climbed six spots in this year's national ranking. When considered among the nation’s 609 MSN and 427 DNP programs, UVA’s graduate nursing programs remain in the top 3% of American MSN programs and the top 10% of American DNP programs.   

U.S. News & World Report ranks nursing schools based on factors that include peer assessments, research funding, faculty resources, program selectivity, and graduation rates.
