BSN Students Shine at UVA Health EBP Symposium
Students from this semester’s REAL II course, taught by Drs. Victoria Petermann and Kathryn Reid, were selected to present their evidence-based practice (EBP) project at the UVA Health EBP Symposium on May 6, 2026.
Invited by Trayce Proffitt, senior director of the Office for Nursing Research at UVA Health, the group earned the opportunity after their poster ranked among the top projects during the REAL II EBP poster session. Attendees evaluated posters using QR codes, identifying exceptional work across the cohort.
The student team—Livy Layman, Emery Lindblom, Megan Pogorzelski, and Ellie Slive—focused their project on using clustered care to support development for neonates in the neonatal intensive care unit.
At the symposium, they delivered a polished 60-second pitch to an enthusiastic audience, drawing cheers from the room and sparking conversations with attendees eager to learn more about their work.
