Leadership in Action at the Virginia Women’s Leadership Forum
UVA School of Nursing's Dean Baernholdt recently joined women leaders from across the Commonwealth at the Virginia Women’s Leadership Forum, coinciding with Women’s History Month. The event focused on candid conversation and lived experiences of women in leadership across business, government, and public service. Speakers shared personal leadership stories and practical lessons, with opportunities for meaningful connection among professionals, advocates, and changemakers.
Through panel discussions and small‑group conversations, participants explored issues that shape women’s lives and livelihoods, including healthcare, housing, childcare, and education. The sessions examined leadership across industries, from C‑suite executives and entrepreneurs to leaders in higher education and public service, and addressed topics such as overcoming bias, mentoring the next generation, and navigating work‑life balance.
The dean connected with fellow leaders throughout the day, spending time with Jennifer Siciliano, UVA Health’s chief external affairs officer; Nancy Howell Agee, School of Nursing alumna and chief executive officer emeritus of Carilion Clinic; and Rudene Mercer Haynes, UVA alumna, partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth, and a 2026 appointee to the University of Virginia Board of Visitors.
