Rodriguez Nursing Leadership and Research Fund
- Purpose: The Fund provides monetary awards to students in the School of Nursing as they seek experiential learning opportunities in health care outside of the classroom, both in the US and abroad, as a complement to and extension of their nursing education at UVA.
- Eligibility: Open to UVA School of Nursing undergraduate and graduate nursing students. Applicants must have a faculty sponsor for their idea, project, or course.
- Award Amounts:

- Up to $3,000 for PhD students
- Up to $3,000 for DNP students
- Up to $1,000 for DMP (undergraduate) students

Submission process & Guidelines
- Deadline: October 31
- Submission: Begin your application by completing the online submission form.
- Evaluation: Applications will be reviewed by a committee convened by the Associate Dean for Academic Operations, in collaboration with ONR. Final decisions will be based on rubric scores and overall alignment with the goals of the Rodriguez Fund.
Selection Process
Recipient(s) are selected annually based on the merit and quality of the application. Primary consideration will be given to students who aspire beyond the mastery of clinical and intellectual skills taught in the traditional curriculum and seek additional experience outside of the classroom.
Recipient responsibilities
Award recipients are required to submit a brief final report (1–2 pages) summarizing the outcomes and impact of their funded project. The report should summarize the project's activities, outcomes, and how the funding supported the recipient’s academic or professional development.
