A certified nurse midwife, associate professor, and Seedworks Health Equity in Nursing Program director at UMass Amherst, Canty uses her lived experience as a Black woman as well as her poetry; art, and racial disparities research to offer a reproductive justice lens to improve racial disparities in maternal health. Founder of Lucinda's House, a Black maternal health collective, she promotes health equity through community collaboration and educational and support programs.
