Biography

Jane von Gaudecker, PhD, RN, AG-CNS, FAAN, FAES, CGNC, is an Associate Professor at the UVA School of Nursing and holds a joint appointment with the Department of Neurology. An NIH-funded nurse scientist, Dr. von Gaudecker's scholarship focuses on improving access to epilepsy care and addressing neurological health disparities in underserved populations. Through community-engaged and implementation science research, she develops and evaluates strategies to strengthen health systems, build workforce capacity, and expand access to evidence-based neurological care. Her work spans rural communities in the United States and sub-Saharan Africa and is guided by a commitment to health equity and improving the lives of individuals and families affected by epilepsy, regardless of where they live.

Dr. von Gaudecker earned her BScN from Christian Medical College in Vellore, India, and her MSN and PhD from the University of Virginia. She completed an NIH/NINR-funded postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral research at Indiana University. Dr. von Gaudecker is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the American Epilepsy Society and is a Certified Global Nurse Consultant through the International Council of Nurses.
