Target Audience

Nurses, physicians, physician associates, and other healthcare professionals who provide care to individuals with aortic disease in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

This symposium highlights current trends, issues, and emerging therapies in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery for patients with aortic disease. Healthcare professionals providing care to patients with aortic disease will gain and extend knowledge in order to improve care delivery and outcomes for this patient population in both specialized settings as well as across the care continuum. Diagnosis and treatment paradigms for aortic and structural heart diseases, including medical, endovascular, surgical, and hybrid options, will be presented.

Overview

This symposium highlights current trends, issues, and emerging therapies in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery for patients with aortic disease. Desired Outcomes

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Identify patient groups at increased risk for developing aortic pathology.
  • Apply the correct diagnostic and surgical techniques on the appropriate aortic pathology.
  • Choose the appropriate imaging technique to identify aortic pathologies.
  • Discuss current trends of aortic surgery.
  • Apply current practice guidelines when planning medical management and surgical interventions for patients with aortic disease.
  • Discuss the effect of genetics and family history on risk of aortic disease.
