Sarah Waugh CNL graduate in the class of 2023
With undergraduate degrees in psychology and kinesiology, Waugh earned an MSN through the Clinical Nurse Leader program in spring 2023 and now works as a nurse in Washington, D.C.

Meet Sarah.

Kickball and flag football player. Beginning guitarist. Special Olympics volunteer, Instagramming cook, and organic and sustainable farming enthusiast.

During her time as a College of William & Mary undergraduate studying psychology and kinesiology, she worked as a TA, which whet her appetite to, one day, return as a teacher in the classroom. Recent CNL master's grad and a proud member of the UVA Class of 2023, she's now a brand new nurse at Georgetown Medstar Hospital in the surgical ICU, and future nursing doctoral student and professor.

WHY NURSING?

"I truly enjoy connecting with people. It's an honor to work with patients during some of their toughest times."

UVA SCHOOL OF NURSING IN A WORD?

"LEADING. UVA inspires us to be leaders in the healthcare world, rather than being passive members of the profession. As someone who strives to be a lifelong learner (both inside and outside of the hospital), I am grateful for a strong community that I can engage with."
